A centralized athletics website built to improve access, visibility, and control across one of the nation’s largest public school leagues.

The Philadelphia Public League, operated under the School District of Philadelphia has been running since 1920. It includes 73 member schools — district and public charter high schools — and produces athletes who have gone on to compete at the highest levels. Dawn Staley cut down the nets at the NCAA championship wearing a Dobbins warm-up jersey. Will Smith went to Overbrook. With a long history and a large, active community, the league needed a better way to manage and share athletics information without adding more work to a lean team.

Results at a Glance

  • 73 schools connected across one platform
  • 1,500 student-athletes recognized annually
  • 3 hours saved daily on manual updates
  • 200%+ increase in website traffic (3-week period)
  • Increased visibility for athletes, families, and colleges

The Challenge

Finding and sharing basic information shouldn’t be this hard

Before Arbiter Websites, much of that information lived across Excel files, PDFs, social media, and manual website updates. This made even basic tasks difficult:

  • Updating schedules across schools
  • Sharing postseason brackets
  • Providing consistent access for families
  • Keeping information accurate and current

The result: hours of daily manual work and inconsistent visibility across the league. They needed a better way to centralize schedules, school information, postseason updates, and athlete recognition—without creating more work for an already stretched staff.

The Solution

One place for schedules, schools, and updates

With Arbiter Websites, the Philadelphia Public League built a centralized online home for athletics information across the league and its schools.

  • Centralized schedules, scores, and updates
  • Direct connections between league and school websites
  • Easier access to rosters, coaches, and team details
  • Faster publishing of postseason brackets and honors
  • Reduced reliance on manual updates

Because Arbiter already powered scheduling, the integration eliminated duplicate work and made information more consistent.

Integration drives everything . . . It gives us time back and helps us move quicker.

The Results

1) Significant Time Savings

Before Arbiter Websites, daily updates consumed hours of manual work.

With automated updates and integrated brackets, that time has been reclaimed—allowing staff to focus on running the league, not maintaining it.

I was spending 2.5 to 3 hours every morning before even starting my day.

2) Publishing athlete recognition online created real outcomes beyond the school community.

One of the clearest examples came through the league’s All Public honors program.

Previously, those honors were largely distributed internally. By publishing them online, the league made them visible to families, communities, and college programs. The outcome: more exposure for athletes—and direct outreach from college programs that may not have found them otherwise.

2) Control Over the League’s Story

With declining local media coverage, the league needed a way to represent itself and highlight positive stories.

The website created a platform to share achievements, promote athletes, and bring visibility back to the community.

3) Easier Access for Families and the Community

The website created a clear, reliable destination for athletics information.

  • Easier access to schedules and scores
  • Faster navigation to school websites
  • Better visibility into playoffs and honors
  • Fewer calls for routine information
